Our “New Home” Vow

Since 2003, DDMBA-Chicago has guided countless hours of group meditation practices, compassionate chanting, retreats and community outreach programs. We invited numerous visiting venerables and Dharma teachers to enrich our studies. Hundreds of members have come through our doors to participate in Dharma activates, to formally take Refuges in The Three Jewels, or to seek guidance in the face of adversities. In order to bring Dharma to everyone, we have made it a priority to provide activities in both Chinese and English, to serve Americans, immigrants from all over the world, as well as their American-born children.

With the support of dedicated members and volunteers, our center continues to thrive with new members and events. In recent years, we have had to turn away retreat applicants due to our lack of proper facilities to accommodate them. Thus, in 2014, we made the great vow to seek to purchase a better place of our own, where we can take permanent root in our community and to share the joys and benefits of Chan Buddhism with more people. Our goal is to complete this purchase within 3-5 years, by raising $1.5 million. We sincerely seek your support in helping us realize a new and expanded home that can meet our growing needs to spread the essence of Chan Buddhism. At the new Chan Center, we look forward to continuing our efforts in —

“Uplifting the Character of Humanity and Building a Pure Land on Earth”

Early 2014, the Dharma Drum Mountain Sangha granted approval to our “NEW HOME PLAN”. With Belinda Li as our leader, we have formed a “New Home Task Force”, and the total members of this Task Force has since grown from eight to eleven:

Shiou Loh (Task Force Chair)

Yung-Wu Chen
Fu-Shih Lin
Melisande Resendiz
